Fundamentals of Search and Rescue

The Fundamentals of Search and Rescue (FUNSAR) course is the second, intermediate level of NASAR courses. It provides knowledge concerning the general responsibilities, skills, abilities, and the equipment needed by persons who are assigned to field operations during a SAR mission. This class will be held at the Darlington Volunteer Fire Company over two weekends on February 18-19 and March 18-19. There is also an additional outdoor portion of this class to be held in May, date not yet determined. Textbook required for the class is titled “Fundamentals of Search and Rescue” and is available for purchase from the National Search and Rescue website. Lunch will be provided. Radiological Monitoring and Handling Contaminated Patients

Exelon Power and the Harford County Division of Emergency Operations will be conducting a class covering Radiological Monitoring and How to Handle a Contaminated Patient at the Darlington Volunteer Fire Company, House 1 on Monday March 5, 2012, at 7:30pm. ETHANOL - WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT IT, HOW TO RESPOND TO INCIDENTS INVOLVING IT!!

The Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association Training Committee and The Harford County HazMat Team are sponsoring a training seminar on the properties of and response to incidents involving ethanol gasoline blends. This class will cover aspects of emergency response related to both ignited and un-ignited spills, foam delivery and application, and environmental issues.

The class will be held on three separate dates, with the weeknight sessions of four hours. The Saturday class will be six hours in length with two hours of hands on training, and lunch. PPE is required. Please see flyer for additional information and to register.

MANAGING VOLUNTEER AND COMBINATION DEPARTMENTS SEMINAR

The Darlington Volunteer Fire Company is hosting a seminar entitled “Managing Volunteer and Combination Emergency Service Organizations”. This program is presented by VFIS and reviews seventeen key areas of fire and EMS company management including budgeting, by-laws, strategic planning, and more. The program will be held on March 22, 2012 beginning at 6:00 P.M. The location will be the Darlington Volunteer Fire Company at 2600 Castleton Road in Darlington, Maryland.
