The United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has issued a nationwide public health declaration in response to numerous cases of swine flu being diagnosed in several states. There have not been any cases diagnosed in Maryland, however the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) along with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) have issued warnings and precautions for EMS providers and citizens to limit the spread of this disease.
