Applications are now being accepted for students interested in enrolling in the Firefighter/EMT Cadet Program for the 2010-2011 school year. The window for applications will be through the end of April 2010. Further information on the Cadet Program and the application process may be found by clicking on the "Information Download" link on this page and by contacting Ms. Donna Geisel at 410-638-3955 extension 102. In addition, fire company personnel will be visiting schools in the upcoming weeks to discuss the Cadet Program. Please check with Ms. Geisel and your High School Guidance Counselors for dates and times of the visits.

2009-2010 Harford County Public Schools/HCVFEMSA Cadet Program Update

The current class of Fire Fighter Cadets has passed the MFRI Firefighter I program. This includes the NIMS ICS700 class. The Cadets have also completed the Hazardous Materials Operations portion of the program, and are now working on their Emergency Medical Technician-Basic curriculum and skills. They will be actively involved in the delivery of EMS care in their communities under direct supervision of experienced EMT's during this time. This years' class includes 12 cadets representing the following Harford County Volunteer Fire & EMS Companies:

Co. 3 Bel Air VFC
Co. 4 Abingdon VFC
Co. 6 Whiteford VFC
Co. 8 Joppa-Magnolia VFC
Co. 9 Darlington VFC
Co. 13 Fallston VFAC

The Cadets are students at Edgewood H.S., C. Milton Wright H.S., North Harford H.S., and Harford Technical H.S.
